Plein Air Painting

En plein air, or plein air painting, is the act of painting outdoors. This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules that might create a predetermined look. Ellen Henkels is a member of the PPOD’s (Plein Air Painters of Dubuque) and has participated in many plein air art events.
